Ain't Too Proud To Beg

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and Java for the stretching tips. Ahhh, I have been stretching last night, and today. I slept last night with my legs in a butterfly position(well fell asleep in that position, who knows what I did while I slept), and I feel mo' betta. Luckily, it was nothing dramatic. I am ready for the 10K tomorrow!

Guess who emailed me????

Meridith the online marketing rep for Brooks Running!! They are going to hook up this repeat Brooks shirt wearing offender! Thanks so much Brooks Running, I can now vary up my shirts..LOL!
Have a fabolous weekend everyone!

This Is A Real Pain In The A$$

Yesterday, I went to for a run at Memorial Park since I was in the area picking up race packets for my first 10K this Saturday. I usually love a great run at Memorial Park, there are tons of other runners, and the crushed gravel path is a favorite amongst many. I have been a road runner since I started, and not due to speed, LOL! I just always have run on concrete. It is what my body is used to. I run 3 times a week, and do plenty of cross training so it does not kill the body and lead to another stress fracture, but I digress.

Anywhoo, I was doing my scheduled 6 since I fell short on Monday due to lack of sleep, and fuel. For example, eating one hard boiled egg before the run, so l crashed and burned after one mile. Yada, yada, yada , so I added the other 2 miles to Wednesday's run. I felt like I was running with all I had in me. I looked at LT, (Garmin) and see I kept a 13 minute pace, which is a whole 1.5 minutes per mile slower than usual.

In the afternoon yesterday, I feet a constant naggy pain by my left hip. I pull up this handy dandy diagram and see the pain looks like it might be in the pelvis area?

All, I can best describe it as, is that it hurts on the side of my left hip, and heads toward the back of my left butt cheek. Does anybody know what I am talking about here? I know I did not get a proper stretch in after the run. I ran into Timmy. Well, I doubled back and chased him when I saw him run past me in the opposite direction. The LT shows I hit a 7:43 pace chasing him for a minute, than giving up. I didn't even know my fat turkey legs could do that?! If it was meant to see him, I would catch him later. Once, I was done with my run I saw Timmy at the stretching area. We started talking, and I ask him for the time and I had 20 minutes to do a 35 minute drive to pick up the kiddo from preschool. So no stretches for me! It's funny he said in his blog he saw me take off, and saw a blur of lavender. Meaning, that of course I was wearing my Brooks running shirt again. LOL! Maybe, the Brooks people would be so kind to send me a Brooks revelation shirt in XL in another color :-P. Hey, they gave Pokey some groovy pants.

:-P

I did go swimming today with Coach Michelle, and she kicked my booty. The hip tightened up a bit while doing 200 yds of kick board, besides that it felt otay since I mostly swim with da arms too much. Michelle says my shoulder gets red after a couple 100 yards. Who knew?

I plan to just take tomorrow off from everything, and do some stretches on the Pilate's Reformer.

Disclaimer: not me nor do I look like that while doing that

I really hope I can run on Saturday. The hubby and I were doing this first 10K together, and we were going to warm up with 2 miles since there is 8 miles on my 1/2 marathon schedule, but now I find myself in a pickle. Plus, I really don't want to sound cocky or nothing, but I was pretty sure of a PR :-o

If you guys have any tips or anything, please send it my way. I love you guys for all your support, your knowledge , and your experience.

Weekend 7 Recap

  1. The hubby, and I had a nice little getaway in Baton Rouge while he was working.

  2. I fell off the healthy eating wagon at least 7 times this weekend. I feel so guilty, and terrible about it. I sat here and PROmised I would do well, and I broke the PROmise to myself. It even included Girl Scout Cookies. I still have two boxes, may send them to Java :-P

  3. I did get 7 miles done, with tough spots on miles 3-4 (dehydration). I know it was the poison cokes & beers I drank the night before. Thanks Nancy for my mile markers!

  4. We saw this huge rocking chair whilst running along LSU Lakes. I really felt like leaping on that rocking chair at at that point of the run.

  5. I got to hang with my online WeWa pal, Paige in Louisiana. We were quiet, and shy around each other for the first few minutes, but shortly it was like we were old friends. OK I know am still with the Brooks workout shirt, have I mentioned it's my favorite!

  6. We went for a nice family bike ride on the Seawall in Galveston Island, on a gorgeous Sunday.

  7. My 3 main guys, Dad, Hubby, and Lil' Buster soaking in the hot tub after cycling fun.

Tigerland Tidbits

I have not been posting for a bit, but remember my PROmise; well I have been keeping it so I spend a lot less time by the computer. I check on you guys and shutdown. I have been working out so much that even Shane says he misses me. The eating is going well too. I stay with in my allotted points/calories for the day, and use them on healthy choices.

Many thanks, Coach Bill for the wonderful perspectives from Kim Hager! I am a huge fan of hers, and love watching her run in local races. I saw her set the course record at the Houston 1/2 in October.

Shane had to come to LSU, (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) to do some recruiting, and brought me along since he has been missing me. My Mom is keeping the Lil’ Buster. We drove 6 hours yesterday, managing to get in some quality time along with some quality bickering.

Me: Slow the eff down the, it’s raining!
Shane: I wish you would quit your bitching. I should have come alone.
10 minutes later..
Me: My arms are sore.
Shane: That swimming is really taking you out. Want to race at the hotel tonight?
Me: Sure, I’m going to kick your ass!
Shane: Sweet (our pet name), I am so glad we are getting some time together.
Me: Yea, me too.

Shane made sure to get a hotel with a gym and an indoor pool. Last night, we had a nice steak dinner, and afterwards he got some work done while I was at the gym.

I was able to catch the debates while on the bike. I *heart* this bike with a tv attached.

He than joined me for the swim race, and took me out, but complemented me on my nice form. I did kick some 15 yr old girls booty at the gym on Wednesday night that wanted to race me. LOL! Yes, I do get pride beating a 15 yr old; you know how many of these teens beat me at 5K’s?! We are here through Saturday afternoon, and are doing the 7 mile run along the LSU Lakes, Saturday morning. It is supposed to be nice weather wise so it should be suahweet!

Bathroom pic for, Marcy from Britneyville. It is a small bathroom. I had to stand in the shower to take the picture or maybe I am just not that good at the bathroom pics.Eww, wearing the same top from Wednesday. I washed it, I swear...

While, he is working today I am getting to meet one of my online Weight Watchers pals, Paige. She lives outside of New Orleans, but is making the couple hour drive to hang with me. I am so excited, since we have been planning to hang out for some time now. We were going to do a 5K together back in December, but my stress fracture kind of canceled that out. It is wired, but you build a bond with some of these online peeps since you mostly share the same weight loss craziness, and running sickness.
Tonight, Shane and I have a nice dinner planned followed by a movie in the room. “No Country for Old Men”, is on tap tonight to be sure I have seen all the best picture nominated films before Oscar night; I will have to squeeze “Michael Clayton” in Saturday evening. I know I am a movie dork.

Rita, my dearest friend (she's so hawt) & me goofing off while getting party supplies for Lil' Buster's birthday party after my run on Wednesday.

I PROmise

My other body is a triathlete

After watching the encore of Ironman Kona, I found a new sense of motivation. I know I will never turn pro, and hell it’s not why I do these events anyway. I do race events to keep me motivated in my weight loss, change the shape of my body, be fit, be healthy, and to prove to myself that my body (this mass that used to just sit around) can do things I have always dreamed of.

So, instead of treading water, (pun intended) like I have been these past few weeks, by eating crappy every weekend, skimming the swimming, and skipping strength training workouts on the schedule, I must make promises to continue my progress, and train like a pro in my heart. If you guys see me failing, don’t be afraid to give me a swift kick to the ass. In fact, ass-kickings are always encouraged around here. I will catch up with youse guys tonight.

I promise till the LoneStar Tri

  • No feeding the machine crap & junk, it makes me feel like a pro by calling the body a machine. LOL!
  • I will do 2 a’ days four times a week consisting of swims in the evening.

Movie Corner:

Gone Baby, Gone: Excellent suspense. Must See! 4 Viv Stars

There Will Be Blood: It was good, not amazingly great like some of the reviews have stated. The first 15 minutes were so quiet we had to wait to eat all the crap food we bought. 3 Viv Stars

Hot Suace Romance

You won't want to miss this weekend's airing of the Ford Ironman World Championship on NBC. Tune in this Saturday at 2 p.m. EST (check local listings for the time in your area) for the dramatic coverage of the world's toughest one-day endurance competition. For a preview of the show, check out the Ironman Channel on YouTube

I hope everyone had a hot and heavy Valentines. Shane told me earlier this week that his Mom would take care of Lil’ Buster, and he wanted to have a nice dinner somewhere quiet. I looked at him kind of cross-eyed, and I opted for a night of hot wings, and beer at the local sports bar. While in the most romantic setting of guys cheering on college basketball mixed with the fine smell of Marlboro 100’s he reminded me of the night he stood me up on Valentine’s because he was working on a huge school assignment. I didn’t remember that at all. He said, for all the drama you gave me that day I thought you would take it to the grave. I even called my Mom, yes in the middle of our most romantic evening. Mami, do you remember Shane standing me up on Valentine’s Day? Oh yea, you were all dressed up waiting, and he called to say he wasn’t coming, and you were on fire. I guess good times erase the bullshit things eventually. We came home early, jumped in our most cozy cotton lingerie to watch movie with chocolate covered strawberries. Ahh, now that was my idea of a great Valentines!

I think I may have had a combination of allergies along with a confusion of body aches for just plain laziness. On, Tuesday I spent most of the day on the couch missing my mostly needed swim class. I feel like I am back to business as usual. Still having the throat issues, but nothing a little Claritin won’t fix since it is just drainage.

I definitely need a good one of these

in the swimming department, courtesy of Pokey. I really keep assuming that I will wake up the morning of the tri and naturally able swim 488 yards. I better check myself before I have a DNF involving a drowning. Tomorrow is a big day with my first 7 miles on tap :-O

I hope everyone has an outstanding weekend!

Wednesday’s Workout:

I Really Am The Cootie Queen Now

All right, who is passing around the cooties in blog land? I woke up with a sore throat, and achy bod this morning. I decided to use Marcy’s recovery method, and feed my cold cheese danish, except I am chugging it down with ½ a gallon of orange juice. I came to this funky conclusion that my body needs a bunch of extra calories to feel better, right?!

So, I have been on the couch watching crappy morning shows. Maury’s show is quite comical. It was no surprise that today’s topic is this chick is who looking for the father of her baby, but she has no idea of who it could be after she banged a 100 guys. I wonder if she banged 100 guys just during that ovulation cycle or since she remembered, damn it sure has been a while since I needed to by tampons.

I have also been reading almost every running blog ever published. So, that should explain why I am close to the first comment on every blog today. It stinks that no workouts went down today. I missed swimming class today, and that is the one workout I should not be scratching off the list. Have I mentioned I might drown swimming 488 yards? It is quite possible since after 200 yards I am looking for the closest wall.

Great, school is out and now I can hear the kids next door having their usual basketball throw down, so much for nap.

Tempo, I Think

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! The weather in Houston was gorgeous, and I made sure to take advantage of it.

I had two miles on the schedule today, on the shorter ones I try to give it more juice than I normally would. I guess you would call that tempo? Correct me if I am wrong, since I have no clue on the runner’s lingo.

2 Miles 22:30 (11:15)

Mile 1 (11:34)
Mile 2 (10:56)

Movie Corner:
The Kingdom: good plot & action, enjoyed it even with Jennifer Garner’s extreme collagen lips.
Rush Hour 3: OK time to stop the Rush Hour movies
Part 1 LMAO
Part 2 LOL
Part 3 :-/

I did catch some of the Grammy’s. They did pull out a lot of old school performers, but the one I enjoyed was, Tina Turner & Beyonce performing “Proud Mary”. After, reading Timmy’s review of it, I thought I would let him opine on another version of “Proud Mary”. I never agree to karaoke, but if I would several things would have to happen.

  1. It would have to be super dark.
  2. It would have to be a hole in the wall locale.
  3. I would have had a minimum of 6 alcoholic drinks consumed.
  4. I would have to have a back up singer.
  5. I would have to have a karaoke version on Ike & Tina’s "Proud Mary".

My so called version of "Proud Mary" is towards the end of the slide show. You may want to mute you sound :-O

If You Flip 6 Over It Makes 9

Thanks Nancy the best race director EVA! I did my 6 on the 9th handicapped allowed for newbies by the director, who by the way knocked out her 9 on the treadmill after being sick all week :-) Way to go Nanc!

I was going to take skinny Katya as my pacer since I thought we would get some stares running together. People, would be like, OK the skinny one needs to stop running, and the other chick needs to keep going. The hubby decided to join me for my 6, so I left the skinny biatch back.

I was nervous about this 6 for the past couple of days. I guess I let the number cause some mental blockage, but as soon as my feet hit the pavement I knew it would be all good. It felt great the whole way, except the last mile I was digging hard to finish. I found it on the iPod, jamming the Foo “Best of You”, I so felt him saying the pain you feel is oh so real. I didn't feel any pain I actually felt fantastic, and than the hubby said the most romantic thing to me ever. “Man, you really kicked my ass today!” He is so getting lucky tonight.

6 miles 1:14:44 (12:27)

Mile 1 (12:53)

Mile 2 (12:38)

Mile 3 (12:43) GU/Water Walk

This Cootie Queen Can't Run 9

I had a few things going on yesterday, so I took an unscheduled DOR. I slept in for a change, and took Lil’ Buster on his first play date. I usually avoid these normal mommy rituals, it is hard to find cool Mom’s out there. Some just want to talk about their baby, their husband and making more babies. I love my kiddo, and my husband, but sometimes you have to your own things going on as well. The play date was a success the Mom was really cool, and we clicked really well. I thought I was the only Mom who watches “The Soup” and the ever trashy “Rock of Love”.

My body did welcome the rest. Today I feel more energized and ready for my workout even though I barely slept last night. I hate those nights when you get in bed, and your mind starts working overtime thinking about the stupidest stuff. I think the thought of maybe I should freeze half the loaf of bread since we never finish it before it molds. WTF!!

I am off to the gym having to get some swimming in, and use the stationary bike to get some cycling done. Lil’ Buster is home with me, and there is no way I am attaching his 58 pound self to any part of my bike. I have 6 miles on the schedule for my long run tomorrow. I am so bummed that I am not prepared enough to do Nancy’s 9 on the 9th. If the next one is like 13 on the 13th I will be even more bummed. Will I ever qualify for Nancy’s run, it has become my Boston :-D

Good luck to Tammy this weekend with the ½ & all the 9 on the 9th'ers!!

I will leave you with my favorite commercial. I will catch up with you guys this afternoon. Have a fantastic weekend!

I'm Tri-ing

I added an extra day of swimming, and removed a day of cycling. I just feel swimming needs the most work. Well, I am crappy at running, cycling, and swimming, just swimming is my crapiest.

What swimming has taught me?

  • I love to breathe. I will never ever take a nice deep breath for granted.
  • I now think of yards of another form of measurement instead of just how many needed for a first down.
  • Great goggles are crucial. Just borrowing my son’s goggles does not keep the water out of my eyes, and cause my contact to come out inside the goggle.
  • I need to find a bathing suit that has a great bra built in.
  • If you wear a necklace it is quite possible to choke.
  • When your swimming laps and you start coughing up a storm mid lap because you drank too much water, you will lose all your cool look at me I am swimmer points.

Monday's Workout: 2 mile run
Tuesday's Workout: 58 minutes cycling & 45 minutes swimming
Today's Workout: 3 mile run & ST since I missed yesterday

Super Sixty

  • Ran 3 miles on Saturday, it was super rough right till I finished.

  • Went to a hockey game for the first time, it was super exciting.

  • Caught the UFC fight at a super crowded BW3's.

  • The Giants won the Super Bowl, and I love that.

  • I ate super terribly all weekend.

  • I have lost 60 pounds since June, and feel super about it.

  • Ran across some old pics this weekend, realizing how super fat I was.

  • I came to terms that I still have a super 60 more pounds to lose.

  • It is my 60th post to this is super supportive blogworld.

  • It is Super Tuesday tomorrow.

When Is Snack Time?

My legs are killing me today. I felt them yesterday on the bike, the quads were burning! Is that normal to get lactic acid with the increased activity? I think I might have to take an unscheduled DOR, but this would be the 2nd Friday I am doing this. I can’t get in the habit of working out only 5 days a week. For this tri thing to pan out I have to stay pretty consistent with 6. I feel kind of guilty when I take an unscheduled day of rest, and I also get the feeling that I will not be prepared for whatever I am training for. On Wednesday night I read on Doug's post to go to bed an hour early to help recover. So, I did and ended up waking up an hour earlier, I can't even sleep an extra hour, ugh!
Oh, and I got in trouble at the gym yesterday for using the spin bike with no class going on. That bike to me mimics my bike the most. I can not afford a trainer at this time, and my birthday is not for another 9 months :-( I guess I have to go out there with the real bike, and do some rides on my own, which is so scary to me :-O
We had my Lil' Buster's new school orientation yesterday. It tripped me out that most of the questions the parents asked were regarding food.
When is lunch? Do they have to bring their own lunch? Does the school provide snack? Do they have a choice of chocolate or white milk? Seriously, people are these concerns at this point for next school year. Than I go ask a question like, Will reading be introduced? I should have rephrased it so everyone could relate and said, Can they eat a snack while they read, cause I love me some snacks while reading.

Good luck to Jessica, P.O.M. this weekend with the 1/2!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yesterday's Workout:

35 minute cycle

17 minute swim
